Our Extraction Process
Liquids
MediHerb was founded on our proprietary cold percolation extraction process; MediHerb 1:2 Cold Percolation.
Driven by the desire for consistently efficacious herbal remedies, MediHerb developed this method to ensure high-quality and potent herbal liquids that retain the full spectrum of important constituents from raw herbal materials.
MediHerb 1:2 Cold Percolation avoids heat at every stage of production in the knowledge that it can damage the delicate balance of the phytochemical spectrum of the original herb. Furthermore, the greatest care is taken to prevent external contamination throughout the extraction process by:
- Using only extraction equipment designed and built from surgical grade stainless steel.
- Cleaning and filtering air throughout the manufacturing facility using pharmaceutical standard filtering units.
Both are carefully sourced to ensure they meet pharmaceutical standard specifications.
A note on ethanol: MediHerb only uses ethanol that complies with the British Pharmacopoeia specification for ethanol. Ethanol is essential in extracting the full phytochemical profile of plants, which cannot be achieved using water or glycerol alone, and has been used for hundreds of years in herbal extraction. The human liver is naturally conditioned to metabolise small amounts of ethanol from ripe fruit and naturally fermented foods. There is minimal risk of potential ethanol toxicity with herbal extracts due to the low daily dosage required. In a typical 5 ml dose of a 1:2 herbal blend, there is approximately the same amount of ethanol as a 1/6 of a standard glass of beer or wine.
Tablets
MediHerb tablets are manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, with each batch tested for disintegration, friability, weight uniformity and for active constituents.
All MediHerb tablets must legally disintegrate in less than 30 minutes, offering swift and easy absorption.
